Traditions & Nostalgia
Like its contemporary fraternities, Kappa Beta selected its members though a process of rushing, bids and pledging. Pledges were required to learn the fraternity history, songs and traditions. Pledges also had to endure some hazing, culminating in an aptly named “Hell Night” and a “Hell Trip” to a distant location to perform a pointless task. Today, these initiation rituals are widely distained and a majority of KB alumni would probably agree that hazing should be prohibited. But many would also agree that the rituals and hazing they endured as pledges helped build their strong bond and enduring relationships.
